FAQ

Does hypnosis really work?

Yes, it certainly does. Don't let the silly things you see on tv fool you, hypnosis is a great tool for changing the beliefs and patterns that you are holding on to and wish you weren't. Don’t expect a miracle in one session, but you might just get one. It's impossible to predict how many sessions you will need but when you come for your first meeting I will be able to advise you better.

Do you offer any discounts?

A normal HYPNOTHERAPY session costs £70 and lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. I offer discounts for block bookings (see prices page).
If you're on long term sick leave, retired, frontline NHS/Police/Firefighter/Military or currently unemployed, please mention it when you get in touch as I may be able to offer a reduced rate. I also offer a discounted rate for children (between 8-16 years).

What benefits can I expect from working with a hypnotherapist?

Hypnosis is a blissful altered state that allows the therapist to make changes to the deep structures of the unconscious mind. Bypassing the critical faculty, the trance state allows the release of negative emotion and puts you in touch with your innate resources. It's a state of great focus and openness, it's not really mystical, just very effective. I can teach you how to change your thinking and delete old patterns of pain.

How do I pay?

You can pay on the day in cash, in advance by bank transfer or by card. I can give you payment details when you book.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Most people can be hypnotised (it's estimated between 95-98% of people). If you can follow simple instructions and really want to go in to an hypnotic state then you will.

What if I need to re-arrange? What if I'm late?

If you let me know within 24 hours that you'd like to cancel or move an appointment there is no charge, I'm more than happy to help. With less notice, I may have to charge the full fee to compensate for turning someone else away.
If you're going to be late then let me know as soon as you can on 07779260059. I may still be able to see you, unless you're really held up.

What is a session like?

Relaxing! You will sit in a chair and I will talk you, helping you to drift off in to a hypnotic state. You don't even have to listen; just sit back and let go. I may ask you to talk to me in trance, give signals or neither of those things. Most people find hypnosis to be a blissful, learning experience.

Is hypnosis emotional?

Hypnotherapy is often a series of adjustments and releases that aren't troubling at all. With some issues, emotional reactions are triggered. This is often a good thing as our aim is to experience it, understand it, then let it go. I've a big box of tissues by your chair and they are free!

What is the difference between hypnosis and hypnotherapy?

Let's start with 'hypnosis'. Hypnosis is a state of focus and relaxation, it's the fuzzy, creative mind that we enter when we are daydreaming. When you are in a hypnosis trance, you are more suggestible and can better access your imagination. Hypnotherapy is using the hypnotic state for therapeutic purposes. It's the time and space we need to learn, change and imagine solutions. It's healing through our imagination.
